1959 : Jack Cadman opens his first ceramic conversion workshop.

1965 : Surrey-based brass-turning workshops are established.

1971 : Hank Besselink begins working alongside Jack and they produce the library moveable wall light.

1972 : Our distressed brass finish is perfected and the first international orders are received.

1973 : The telescopic desk light is launched.

1974 : The first ‘Smartie’ adjustable floor lamp is made available.

1975 : Flemish design-inspired range of chandeliers is created.

1976 : Our first order from the USA is received.

1979 : Asia becomes part of our international client base.

1980 : Our first retail outlet is opened in London.

1984 : Successful interior designer and artist Nigel Jones joins forces with Hank Besselink.

1985 : Our current Chelsea retail outlet is opened. We receive a commission for Windsor Castle and take on our first five star hotel project.

1986 : We fulfil our first order bound for the Middle East.

1987 : Our fine lighting becomes available at Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge.

1989 : Our first order from Russia is received.

1995 : We begin working with Nicholas Antiques of New York.

1997 : The 1,000th ‘Smartie’ is sold.

1998 : We launch our trade showroom in Chelsea Design Centre and Claridges of London commission us to provide lighting.

1999 : We receive a commission from the China Club, Beijing, launch an open concession at Harrods of London and undertake an extensive lighting refurbishment project for the Dorchester.

2000 : We are commissioned for a project by Sandy Lane, Barbados.

2001 : We undertake our first super-yacht commission and provide lighting for the Royal Palace, Oslo.

2002 : A commission is received from the Astoria Hotel, St Petersburgh and we complete our 50th five star hotel project.

2003 : We open our artist studio for gilding and hand-painting projects.

2004 : We are commissioned by Cipriani of London.

2007 : Our new workshop complete with brass and wood-turning facilities is opened.

2009 : We supply lighting for the Savoy Hotel’s refurbishment project and celebrate 50 years of creating brass lighting with the launch of our mini ‘Smartie’ desk lamp.

2010 : New manufacturing facilities are opened in West London, combining brass and wood-turning facilities with extensive traditional workshops for restoration, conversion and rewiring of antique lighting.
